Dear Friend, I literally walk my talk. In coaching, we work with a wide variety of individuals who are ready to take their careers and lives to the next level – to live a life of full potential. People who want to make life easier and/or want to grow or change – who want to get out of their comfort zones.

Often, in helping clients discover their life purpose, get “unstuck,” and confront the limiting beliefs and fears that hold them back, I end up sharing my “Boston Marathon” story.

It actually began with my Tony Robbins fire walk experience. Clients are always amazed that I successfully walked across a twenty-foot bed of hot coals. But the real strength of that experience came not from the fact that my feet weren’t burned, but from the experience itself, which helped me boost my belief system — and my mental game — to an entirely new level.

The Power of the Mind

I learned to trust myself, and to recognize that I can use the power of my mind over physical obstacles, removing any doubts I may have had regarding my ability to do anything – no matter how seemingly difficult or impossible. Success breeds success, of course, so the fire walk experience led me to tackle another lifelong dream — running a long distance marathon. But not just any marathon. I set my sights on participating in the 100th Running of the Boston Marathon. So many coaching clients have benefited from learning about the plan of action I implemented to achieve this goal, that I decided to write a book about my Boston Marathon experience.

“Boston Marathon or Bust” Shows How to Turn YOUR Dream into Reality.

Like most of the people I’ve coached, I had a dream – but unlike most people, I lived mine – taken it from dream to reality. It wasn’t easy, but then it shouldn’t have been – after all, I was taking action steps designed to allow me to live a dream. In my case, athletics and personal fitness have always been a very large part of my life, and long-distance running my favorite sport. But I still had a long way to go turning dream to reality. You may feel that actually achieving your dreams may sound as difficult as successfully walking over hot coals or running a marathon. That’s because very few people have the ability to figure out how to set goals and follow through with achieving them. Based on my coaching experiences:

I’m convinced only three people in 100 actually set personal or professional goals.
I suspect only one person in 1000 has an idea of their life purpose.
I believe even fewer have any idea how to leverage their life experiences into meaningful and profitable action.

How will Reading “Boston Marathon or Bust” benefit you?

You will discover how to set personal and professional goals and take focused, purposeful action to make them reality.
You will be able to break through your self-limiting boundaries, such as those that are keeping you from making more money, building meaningful relationships or enjoying life.
You will discover the power of beliefs, especially how they have the power to change your subconscious thought patterns.
You will discover the importance of surrounding yourself with positive and motivating people and learn how to change your belief systems.
You will be able to get clear on what you want in life.
You will define what your gifts, talents and passions are and learn how these relate to your life’s purpose.
You will create a vision for your life that will provide direction and meaning to the rest of your life.
You will learn how goal setting, visualization, affirmation and persistence techniques can help you create an action plan that will breathe confidence, happiness, meaning and success into your life.
You will discover how establishing a relationship with a mentor or coach is quite often the one step that separates individuals who succeed in achieving their dreams from those who merely come close…

What People Are Saying About “Boston Marathon or Bust!”

I highly recommend this book. Here’s why:As a coach, I’ve always had a hard time answering clients who asked how to go about “pulling down a dream, dusting it off, making a goal of it – and succeeding.” I’d reply that to make a dream happen, you have to really want it, be convinced you deserve it, and then go for it! Which, while correct, failed to address the all-important question of “How?” In trying to evolve a better answer, I’ve read a lot about setting and achieving goals. Some authors used metaphors, some were theoretical, others a bit simplistic. None felt like they exactly fit my needs.

But with “Boston Marathon or Bust,” Scott Armstrong tackles the “how question” in a way that is clear and totally repeatable. Scott uses his experiences in training for the Boston Marathon to take the reader step-by-step through the action plan he used to make his marathon dream come true. In the process, he shows how anyone can manifest any dream, by following the same plan.

As Scott makes abundantly clear, “there is no magic about achieving dreams.” What it takes is a plan, an attitude, personal commitment, perseverance and follow-through. Plus belief in yourself, and the support of a coach or mentor.

Instead of theory, Scott provides his readers with a workable action plan. One he’s evolved through experience. And he shows how he’s used his plan again and again to achieve success in his personal and professional life.

So for all the coaching clients who’ve moaned, “But Anne, do you REALLY think I have what it takes to do this?” I will now emphatically say, “Yes. Especially if you follow the plan outlined in ‘ Boston Marathon or Bust.’” Anne Holmes is a public relations and marketing expert who specializes in mentoring Baby Boomers who dream of owning a profitable and successful online business.
